Ohio Task Force 1 is recruiting new members. Most of our team members work for local fire departments, police departments, state agencies, or hospitals. Potential members have risen to the top in their field with extensive on-the-job experience. You should have taken opportunities for advanced training in various search and rescue modalities. You need to have a well-rounded support network and the ability to leave with the team on short notice. Deployments can last 14 days (typical) or stretch to three weeks or more. OH-TF1 provides continuing and advanced training but the initial skill set and required training must be completed before applying. Job descriptions and training requirements for our positions are included in the attached position descriptions document. Certificates for the highlighted general training requirements and position specific training requirements will need to be submitted as part of the application process.
Members need the support of their employer. Begin by speaking with your chief or senior officer to discuss your interest in OH-TF1. Employers must be able and willing allow members to leave when the team is activated, often with little notice. They must also allow you time for the monthly training required of all task force members.
