Ohio Task Force 1 stands ready to respond to State and National disasters when requested. Our team of specially trained first responders assemble and deploy with over 50 tons of equipment within 4 hrs of the call to activate. We commit to being self contained for 72 hours so as not to tax already stressed local resources. OH-TF1 commits to working closely with other public safety agencies, local government officials, and FEMA to ensure that we are providing the best possible service to communities in need.
Ohio Task Force 1 members undergo rigorous training to ensure that they are prepared to respond to any emergency situation. From ongoing professional development to specialized training in areas such as hazmat and technical rescue, we are committed to providing our members with the skills and knowledge they need to excel.
Our members are employees of local fire departments, hospitals, and other state or local agencies where they learn skills they will later sharpen and refine while attending monthly and annual trainings with OH-TF1
The National Urban Search and Rescue System was established under the authority of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in 1989. It is a framework for structuring local emergency service personnel into integrated disaster response task forces.
